I assume you mean for road trips (1 day or more). This list may look long, but most of it is little stuff that will actually fit in a tool roll.

For goodness' sake, carry a spare fuse! (Make sure it's the correct amperage, too - no more, no less). Depending on where you live, carry a trial-size bottle of sunscreen (helps with windburn too, if you need it). Augment the bike's toolkit with 10 thru 17 mm combination wrenches, real flathead & phillips screwdrivers, and a fuse puller. A can of fix-a-flat, naturally. If you have full-size saddlebags, carry a rainsuit and a quart of the oil you normally use in the bike. The spare bulb (store small bulbs in 35 mm film canisters to keep from breaking them), extra gloves and cell phone already mentioned. Small tube of hand cleaner with rag. Short length of fuel line (3/8" diameter) with 2 hose clamps, 10' coil of electrical wire (12 or 14 gauge), some butt connectors or quick splices and electrician's pliers.

And don't forget your BAM card. If you don't belong, JOIN.
